Why should I apply online?
 GlobalVision is a growing company that is in constant need for new translators, reviewers and desktop publishing experts. Applying online will ensure that your info is at our project managers' fingertips whenever a new project requires additional resources.
Why should I not simply send you an email with my CV?
 Applying online will ensure that your application is complete and that all the info needed by our project managers is available to them when they need it. This will give you the most exposure and best chance to get qualified and selected for purchase orders. An email will instead sit in someone's mailbox unread.
Will my info be protected?
 Yes! We take great care in protecting our contractors' information. Firstly, it is the ethical thing to do. Second, we consider our partner database one of the company's most important assets. We protect it like we protect the rest of the company's assets. For more info please refer to our Privacy Policy
How often will I have to maintain or update my profile?
 As often as you see fit. We recommend that you at least keep your contact info up to date. If you like to add areas of expertise, you can do so when appropriate.
How soon after I enter my info that I start getting business?
 Each candidate will be evaluated. Qualified candidates will be contacted to complete the qualification process. Once you become an approved partner, you will be contacted as projects require. There are no job guarantees, but if you get qualified, chances of getting a project are good. Since our business is growing, we constantly need new talents.
Will I be required to perform the translation samples?
 We recommend it. But if you feel you have plenty of relevant work experience and excellent reference that you are willing to share with us, translation samples will not be needed.
What will increase my chances of being selected?
 GlobalVision seeks the best candidates for the job. Subject experience, solid resume, solid references and competitive rates are the most important factors.
I work with a partner and our dominant languages differ, what to do?
 Change your profile setting from freelancer to agency. This will remove the need to set a dominant language.
I am registered as a freelancer, but we are actually an agency. The
agreement should be in the name of the company not the individual.

How should I set my rates?
 We operate in a very competitive market, but it is a priority for us to maintain the highest quality standards (refer to the standard operating procedure). Our recommendation is that you set competitive rates while enabling you to offer the needed quality standards.
Will lower rates ensure receiving job orders?
 Not necessarily. We try to employ the same translators and reviewers on the same projects. When new contractors are needed, we will employ the most qualified translator with the best price.
What languages are the most important to GlobalVision?
 We mainly engage in projects from English into French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Korean. We also have requirements into Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Nordic languages, Dutch, Central European languages, Russian, Greek and Arabic. As our client base expands its language needs, we expand our language support.
What desktop publishing tools are most important to GlobalVision?
 MS Word and FrameMaker are currently the most used, followed by QuarkXPress, InDesign, PageMaker, MS Publisher and Illustrator. We often also require work on Art either in editing them in PhotoShop, or in capturing dialog bitmaps from localized applications.
Why do you require the use of Trados?
 Trados is the de facto standard in the area of translation memories. 90% of our clients have recurring needs that benefit from reusable translations. If you do not have Trados, we recommend that you purchase the freelance version from www.trados.comIf you have a tool that supports Trados formats and are willing to deal with the conversions back and forth into the Trados format, then we will consider your application.
Do all projects have to be performed in Trados?
 No, but the great majority does. Some projects initiate from printed material and faxes, instead of electronic formats. Other projects, particularly the more creative kind, may require more freedom in the translation process. In these cases, either the entire translation and review or just the review is done outside of Trados.
